FALL INTO WINTER

*Turkey Day & Makeups

There will be no regular dance classes Nov. 24-28 2009 for Thanksgiving break. The studio, office and boutique will be closed November 26-29, 2009 as well.

Monday, November 23, 2009 is a makeup for the Monday classes that missed on 9-7-09 for Labor Day.   Wednesday, November 25, 2009 will be a makeup day for the Friday classes that missed on 10-16-09.  Classes will be held at their normal class times. *There are no other makeups scheduled for this week of classes, as the 16 week semester of tuition was calculated without this week of dance classes.

Winter Break

All That Dance will be closed for winter break, December 17, 2009 through January 3, 2010.  The final day of dance classes for the fall semester is December 11th, 2009. Classes will resume after the winter break on Monday, January 4th, 2010.

The schedule of dance classes will be in the next newsletter.  Most classes will remain at the same times but may have a different teacher.  Dancers who attend in the fall do not have to re-register for spring classes if they are staying in the same class.  Tuition is due the first week of dance classes.  Please notify the studio office if you are switching to a different class asap.

Costume Deposits

Dancers performing in either the Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop show “A Decade of Dance” and/or the Ballet production of “Variations from Raymonda” must pay their $50 costume deposit by November 30, 2009.  Costume deposits are non-refundable.   *For those dancers who perform in more than 3 dances, please check with the studio office for payment plan options.

Costume choices are on display in the studio lobby.  Miss Rhonda will measure all dancers for costumes during the month of November.   Costumes ordered after the winter break will incur extra charges for shipping.

Please do not order a costume if you are not 100% positive that you are going to be able to perform in and attend all of the rehearsals for the shows.  This includes all in-studio, tech and dress rehearsals that are required for dancers to attend prior to the recital.

Recital Updates (save the dates)

This year’s rehearsal and picture dates have changed as follows: Tech/Dress Rehearsal for the ballet production of “Variations from Raymonda” will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 5 p.m. on the stage at Sinagua High School.  Dancers will need to be prepared to run the show twice through.  Once without costumes and one time in full costume, hair and makeup.  Ballet class pictures will be taken on Monday, May 17, 2010 at the studio.   The in-studio rehearsal will then be held at the studio on May 19, 2010 at the dance studio starting at 5 p.m.  The show will still be held on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Sinagua H.S. at 7 p.m.  All dancers must check in at 5 p.m.

The Matinee and Evening shows of “A Decade of Dance,” our jazz, tap and hip hop show will also be changed as follows: Tech/Dress Rehearsal for these shows will be on Saturday, May 15, 2010 on the stage at Sinagua High School.  The Matinee rehearsal will start at 1 p.m. and the Evening show rehearsal starting at 3 p.m.  Dancers need to plan on running the show twice through.  Once without costumes and one time in full costume.

The picture day for these shows will be on May 18 (Evening) and 19 (Matinee), 2010.  *Class pictures times will be posted later next semester.  We ask that all dancers attend picture day for the class picture, even if you are not purchasing photos for yourself.

The in-studio rehearsal for “A Decade of Dance” will be on May 20, 2010 and will start at 5 p.m for the Matinee and 6 p.m for the Evening show at the dance studio.  We will run curtain call and finale dances first in both the tech/dress rehearsal and the in-studio rehearsal. All dancers sit in the audience during the rehearsals.  The shows are still scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 2 and 7 p.m.  Cast call is 1 ˝  hour prior to show time.

Evening show dancers, there will be extra rehearsals for the opening and finale production numbers.  Please check the studio website for all the latest updates and information at www.allthatdancesite.com

If you are unsure which show your dancer is performing in, please check with the class teacher, front desk or studio office.  The next newsletter will list exactly which classes are in what show.  You can also check the costume boards as to what show your child is performing in.

Auditions

All That Dance will be holding auditions for solo performances in our ballet production and auditions for our hip hop teams and dance company.  Auditions for “Variations from Raymonda” will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 5:30 p.m.

The possible parts that are up for audition are: Raymonda, Clemence and Henrietta and the Spirit or White Lady.  Dancers who are chosen will still be able to dance with their regular ballet classes as well as fulfill the solo part in the production.  There is a $25 audition fee to cover the teachers for the audition.

Auditions for our Company will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 5 p.m.  Auditions for our Hip Hop teams will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 5 p.m.  The audition costs $25 per person.  Audition packets are available in the studio office. *Remember, that auditioning for a ballet solo, hip hop team, or a company member is a huge commitment of time and money.

Snow Days

During the upcoming winter months, the weather in Flagstaff changes rapidly.  We will call off dance classes by 1 p.m. if there is a F.U.S.D. snow day.  Please check the voice mail on the studio phone after that time.  Classes missed due to inclement weather will be made up by the studio later in the semester.  If the Flagstaff school district takes a snow day, we typically do too.

Remember that if a dancer misses class due to illness, school functions, unsafe driving conditions, etc. that student may make up their dance class with another class that is the same or in the same age or ability range.

Spring Registration

Dancers who are registering for new classes in the spring may do so starting December 14-17, 2009 or the first week of dance classes in January 4-8, 2010.   If you know of someone who is interested in taking classes from our studio, please pick up a registration packet from the front desk.

Final Tuition

The final payment for tuition for this semester is due the week of November 2-6, 2009.  For those of you who have a card on file, you will be charged that week.

Happy Holidays

The dance studio, boutique and office will be closed for the holidays from Dec. 17, 2009 to January 3, 2010.
